H5 Point 9: £20,344 + £874 fringe allowance FTE (pro rata)

We are seeking a Librarian to join our team at the Danes Educational Trust on the Herts/Bucks border. The post will be based at Croxley Danes School, which will move to its brand-new permanent accommodation at Baldwins Lane in Croxley Green over the summer.

Our new Librarian will be a skilled, enthusiastic, dynamic, creative and energetic individual who is able to establish and develop a new library at the heart of learning at Croxley Danes. The post holder will continually promote the value of reading throughout the school and encourage all students to read for pleasure. The Librarian will work alongside teaching staff to support and develop students’ academic reading and research skills in order for them to achieve well. Our aim is see reading for pleasure at the heart of Croxley Danes and to foster a lifelong love of reading throughout the school community.

We would like you to have:

Essential:

Experience of ICT (Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook).
Excellent numeracy, literacy and oracy skills, including English and Maths GCSE at grades A* to C
Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and multi-task and follow job instructions with a good attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Ability and self-motivation to work independently
Ability to work in a team and be part of the wider life and ethos of the school
A passion and enthusiasm for reading and books (particularly Young Adult fiction)
Understand the importance of literacy for young people
Preferable:

Knowledge of school procedures, including safeguarding
Experience of using the SIMs MIS package and Library software
Prior experience of working in a school or school library and be educated to a minimum of A-level standard.
Prior experience of working with young people in a secondary setting
