About Our Client
Our client who were set up in 1982 acts as a UK claims handling Agent for a number of French, Belgian, Spanish and other European insurers. They currently represent a significant sector of the French Motor insurance market in the UK, including some of the biggest Groups and one of the biggest Spanish insurers. They have also recently opened a branch in Dublin, Ireland and can now represent European insurers in the Irish Republic.
Job Brief
Our client is looking for a Trilingual speaker who can speak fluent Spanish, French and English to join their specialist multi-lingual team of claims handlers in West London. Some experience of insurance or accident law would be an advantage but is not essential as you will be given comprehensive training on how to handle a claim from start to finish.
A case starts when an accident is declared to the company, usually by one of the insurers involved.
Your duties will involve:
Investigating liability and negotiating settlements between parties. This is done mainly in writing (letters), but also over the phone and you will be expected to use your knowledge of English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Belgian etc language and law. There will also be an element of research involved in the role as you will be researching case law, foreign law, highway codes etc.
As your training develops, your portfolio of files will move from material losses only, such as claims for damage to vehicles and ensuing car hire, to claims involving personal injuries, rehabilitation and loss of earnings.
You will come to understand the English legal system in some depth, appreciate the differences between UK and French law and gain insight into the impact of European Directives on our daily lives.
